DSST Overview
The Denver School of Science and Technology (DSST) is a free, open-enrollment public school serving 728 students in grades 6, 7 and 9-12 founded in 2004. DSST is a college preparatory liberal arts school with a science and technology focus. All students are required to complete a rigorous curriculum including passing pre-calculus, 5 years of high school science, complete an internship and senior project to graduate. DSST is expanding its model to a grades 6-12 program and will have full enrollment by 2010.
DSST Students:
- 45% of DSST students are economically disadvantaged
- 60% of DSST students are Hispanic, or African American
- 50% of DSST students are first generation college bound
- Most students enter DSST at least one grade level behind in math and English
Results:
- 100% of DSST's first senior class were accepted into four your colleges, including CU Boulder, Stanford, MIT, Pomona, Cal-Tech and Wesleyan.
- Based on the Denver Public Schools new school performance framework (released in September 2008), DSST is the only "Distinguished" rated high school in Denver. In 2007 and 2008, DSST outperformed every other high school in Denver in both the student learning growth and absolute student performance.
- From 2005-2007, DSST was the only Colorado high school to earn an "Excellent" performance rating and "Significant Improvement" growth rating on state report cards based on CSAP assessment testing.

DSST Public Schools manages and facilitates two types of visitor tours: Charter Management Organization (CMO) Tours and Third Thursday Tours.
